Job SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the Painter Supervisor, the ACAA's Temporary Painter applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures.
Here is how the Temporary Painter will help:
Work safely and abide by all ACAA safety guidelines; Develop or participate in the job safety analysis procedures; Read work orders or receives instructions from supervisor regarding painting; Smooth surfaces and remove old paint from surfaces to prepare surfaces for painting; Fill nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler; Select premixed paints, or mix required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors; Remove fixtures such as pictures and electric switch covers from walls prior to painting; Spread drop cloths over floors and room furnishings, and cover surfaces such as baseboards, doorframes, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
Paint surfaces with brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers; Simulate wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects; Apply paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects; Erect scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level; Wash surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover; Perform other related tasks as assigned or required.
QualificationsRequirements to apply for role of Temporary Painter are:
High School diploma or GED; Five years' experience as a journeyman painter; Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in the craft or equivalent training at an accredited trade or technical school, or military training; Current, valid Pennsylvania Class C driver's license or ability to maintain the same; Must provide his/her own personal protective footwear (safety shoes).
Must adhere to ACAA guidelines set forth by the Department of Maintenance Dress Code and Personal Protective Equipment policy.
We also expect that candidates will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities in most cases:
Considerable knowledge of practices, methods, tools and materials of the painting trade.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and techniques of safety precautions and injury prevention programs.
Considerable ability to work according to standard practices, using the tools, materials and equipment of the trade.
Considerable ability to work well with others.
Skilled in the removal and installation of vinyl decals.
Ability to finish and repair drywall and wallpaper.
